Firstly, copy all the contents of your windows 2000 CD to a folder in your disk (make sure you have enough free disk space). Then look for a file called "txtsetup.sif", ( This file can be found under "i386" folder), select it and press right mouse button. Choose "Properties", and uncheck the box that says "read only". Next, open it with a text editor (Wordpad, for example). Find a line that says "ACPIenable=2". Change it to "ACPIenable=1". This will force windows 2000 setup program to ignore "good bios list" and will install acpi support if your bios is acpi complaint. Now save this file and backup any important data you have. Boot into MS-DOS mode and do this: C:\name_of_the\folder_you_copied_win2k_files\i386\winnt.exe This will start windows 2000 setup. It will ask for the location of the windows 2000 setup files. Tell the setup program to look in "C:\name_of_the\folder_you_copied_win2k_files\i386\". Do not repair your current windows 2000 instalation. Let the setup program install again windows 2000. After this you will have full acpi support (which includes power off after shutdown, hivernate, suspend to ram...). Hope this information will be usefull for you
