"Finally resurrected by Umax Astra 3400 scanner after moving to WinXP. This patch applied after the vs375u.exe driver restored full operation. Just be sure to follow the installation instructions exactly and manually select the USB devide driver, not the Astra 3400 one that Windows wants to install.

UMAX should have supplied all of this on their website. I'll never buy

"This driver was somehow damaged during the transfer or corrupt from the get go. It would not open.

I did find the same driver elsewhere online. That driver opened/installed along with the XP upgrader. Although it opened and installed successfully, none of the programs worked. The scanner does work however using Windows Photo Editor. Thanks anyway-goodluck!"

"My scanner is a 4950 and currently not available ANYWHERE except UMAX for downloads. My disk is gone... so I'm try to struggle through this. Driver installs fine and scanner functions, to 4950 capabilities... unknown."

"Finally worked on XP Home. You must use the setup that comes in this file first and then use the XP patch that is also included. Afterwards I had to use the device manager to manually update the driver (pointing it to one of the dll files supplied in this file - some file with "3400" in the name. When you've succeded the properties for the scanner should list the

"Seemed to load ok, but failed to recognise scanner. Instead, new hardware wizard would eventually give blue screen of death with system halt if allowed to run."

"This is the third driver and/or patch I've downloaded in an attempt to get my Umax 3400 scanner to work with Windows XP. None have worked at all. Is this the best that can be done?"

"I migrated to an XP system and while XP had drivers that worked somewhat...I couldn't get the full dpi scans my e5420 is capable of. You can only purchase the updated drivers on CD from UMAX which I didn't mind but I didn't want to wait. As far as I know from what I read on their site..this is the same driver. It doesn't work flawlessly..for instance the "test scanner
