"The driver is actually a Realtek AC97 Audio Device, not a C-Media AC97. It executes without a hitch. The system acknowledges that the device is working correctly, but I still get no sound. I'm not sure yet if the issue is with the driver or the speakers. Will try another C-Media AC97 driver to see if it works.

"This solved a sound problem that I had when I had to reinstall XP. The driver on the Microsoft Update web site did not work. This driver corrected the problem. A word of warning... if you you do a custom update at Microsoft Update, you will be given an option to download an updated version of this driver. Ignore

"Driver hasn't worked - shows up as RealTek as opposed to C-Media which is what I needed. I'm aware that RealTek and C-Media are buddies these days, but this just doesn't do the trick. It might work fine for others, but not for me - consequently I don't have an opinion on the recommendation of this driver. Back

"this driver worked great, but then it quit working all of a sudden...it loaded very well, worked great with no blurring of sound when used, but needs a little work on staying connected to the sound card...one minute it worked, and then it didn't...

"So far this has stopped the boot up "stop error". A repairman walked away after an hour saying that windows would have to be re-intalled. He could not get another driver to be accepted by my OS. This has saved the day and my wallet.

"I had a code 10 could not start device for the sound card. I downloaded a driver from the C-Media site & that didn't fix it. This driver did & it also installed some cool stuff that I didn't have before like the grafic equalizer."

"the install was good but it is the older driver for the sound card.

wiondows update installs one that knocks your sound off but this driver puts it back on again.

good work lads.

"I download the driver, double clicked to install, the installation starts and seems to go smoothly, then a box appears claiming the installation has to close and send report of error to Microsoft. I've tried 3 times and the same thing happens each time."

"The driver worked well until I went up to the Windows Update page. It indicated the driver had an updated version, {May 2005} so I downloaded it and the system crashed - deleting the program. Windows XP does not accept this driver!"
