"unzipped the downloaded file, rightclicked on .inf and selected install, turned on scanner and the new hardware wizard showed up, looked for drivers and couldn't found any (meaning previous install didn't work) so pointed to the folder containing the driver, installed it but asked for the HP CD, on cancel the install finished ok and the scanner showed up on my pc, despite

"Driver installed and allowed Windows to recognise scanner, but not sufficient to allow scanner to operate even in control panel. Guess I need the 200MB of bloat that HP seem to think is appropriate to aquire a TWAIN image these days!"

"the driver recognizes the scanner but the twain driver is missing, so you can't scan with this driver. I came here because HP has a 200MB driver+software for this scanner, i suggest that one if you have fast connection."

"Same as hp_scanjet_2400.zip but includes the missing file hpqgends.tmp. Still no .exe file. In my system Device Manager was happy but the scanner was not available. I am still unable to use the scanner."

"I downloaded the driver fine the computer said the installation was succesful but I still cant use the scanner! It says the computer cannot detect the scanner. What's wrong?"
