"Someone gave me a Compaq Presario 1200-XL118 Laptop in very poor condition. After reformatting and installing Win98SE, I had no drivers for audio, video, modem and heaps of other hardware drivers. This soundcard driver works great. To install the driver, I went to System/Device Manager and removed the audio drivers, downloaded and installed the VIA driver, then rebooted

"This one didn't work on the Compaq Presario 1200xl-118 but the 68usr108.exe file worked fine, I got audio, midi, wav, ect.

Audio is Detected as a VIA PCI Audio Controller, I also disabled the Soundblaster Emulation in the BIOS (F10) during bootup. I have no conflicts. Excellent.

"I also have problem when upgrade compaq presario 1200 XL103 to Win2000. The fxxking compaq didn't support drivers and wasting my time to search for. However, this driver works well even it didn't match the model number. Thanx again!^^"

"I had the same problem with my Compaq Presario 1200XL 111 laptop. I downloaded this driver and installed. Now I can enjoy the sound on my laptop. This is really great help. I have tried to get this driver all over the web. Fortunately I found this. Compaq Support Web site really sucks."

"I have a Compaq 1277 that I upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 PRO. The upgrade went OK except that I could get no sound. The error message in the Device Manager was can not find Multimedia Audio Controller Drivers. After downloading the Via Audio Driver Win9x2x everthing seems to working. "I needed the audio driver for a Presario 1200-xl110. None of the recommended drivers, including the one Compaq recommended worked. Installing the 9x drivers (the VXD ones) from this package were what was needed in this case."
