"Unfortunately, although the software is great, in this instance, it didn't support the older UPS I was trying to use it with. Guess that's what happens when you try to use something old! 8) Otherwise, it will work fine on a newer UPS... Just not an APC Back-UPS 500 (about 8 years old!)"

"if you have an older APC UPS, you might as well look elsewhere. this only works with the newer USB UPS's. my Smart-UPS was not recognized. PowerChute would not look beyond the USB Bus for any APC Equipment
