"I'm going from a a Windows 98 system to a XP Pro system. Following install of drivers, the old error message is replaced by "The scanner is not connected. Please check the cable". I went onto my old Windows98 partition and the scanner worked fine.

(and I did rename the fixwinx1.exe file as suggested)"

"You need the installation cd to get a win 2000 driver. If you haven't got it then this isn't any use and there doesn't appear to be a w2k driver for 648 posted that I've found."
