Micro Innovations IC50C Driver Download

1) It doesn't give you a good quality picture: it's grany and colors are "very far" from being bright.

2) Also the compression mecanics have been sacrified to the low price, so if you start moving quickly in front of the camera,

you'll get a noticable delay even on USB 2.1

So if you are planning to make a family album or a movy, you better get a real digital camera. But for video conferences,

motion detectors etc. this camera does the trick.

Now about the installation: it would be very simple for all Windows systems (including XP). Unfortunately Micro Innovations

did such a mess with the drivers... By now I have only two possible explanations for that: either a malicious insider in the

company, or a mass drugs/alcohol use during the business hours. :-) :-|

On both (why so many?) official sites poping up in the Google:

you are getting two files to download:

IC50C Installation Drivers

IC50C WDP (Driver Pack)

ATTENTION: "IC50C Installation Drivers" ARE NOT THE DRIVERS FOR IC50C!

In fact it's a uncomplete installation of iCatch(c) Software, and it has nothing to do with IC50C. Unknown company hero not

only made this false installation, but (s)he also did the package size almost equal to the real installation file!?!

So:

1. Go to

and download "IC50C WDP (Driver Pack)" (wdp9.exe, 1.7Mb)

This driver pack may be needed for installation.

DO NOT TAKE "IC50C Installation Drivers" !

2. Go to

http://mi-products.com/drivers.htm

In the upper left corner locate "IC50C Drivers" and click "2K XP" section (I assume you are using XP by now). You will get

the ic50c_2k_xp.exe (~7.4Mb)

You may notice that this 3rd(!) official site is well-hidden (on Google it appears only on 5th page of search results, and

only if you are using very specific search keywords).

You may also try to download the needed file directly by going to:

http://65.106.167.77/drivers/ic50c_2k_xp.exe

On this page they also propose you to download "WEBCAM DRIVER PACK (XP)" but you cannot do it, because the link is broken.

Luckly you already downloaded this pack on the step 1.

3. Unzip wdp9.exe. It always goes to the folder c:\webcam driver pack (you have no choice)

4. Unzip ic50c_2k_xp.exe

CHANGE the default directory to something like c:\webcam, otherwise you may never find the folder (it tries by default to

unzip it on the Desktop ignoring per-user system settings of XP)

5. Unplug the camera and uninstall iCatch crap-trap and any other crap you may already used.

6. Windows XP assumes that the 3rd party software developers will submit their drivers to Microsoft for the compatibility

test. If such test is passed OK, Microsoft will sign the driver. This procedure cost some money, so a lot of cheapos

(including Micro Innovations) skip on this step. Their drivers are not signed (but still compatible with XP). The problem may

arise if in your XP installation of unsigned drivers is blocked. Better check it in advance.

If you are using default Control panel view by categories:

a) go to Start > Settings > Control panel

b) Click Performance

c) Click System

d) Go to Hardware tab

e) Click Signing drivers button

f) Make sure that the radio button DOES NOT stay on the 3rd option (Block)

7. Go to c:\webcam (see step 4) and run setup

8. When XP tells you that "this driver was not tested with XP" you click "Install anyway".

9. Then finish, plug the camera in. The final stage of installation will start automatically. During this process the system

may complain that some files are missing. In this case use "Browse" button to point to c:\webcam driver pack (see step 3)

Will it ask you or not, it depends. XP SP1 always asks, XP SP2 sometimes doesn't. Any way be prepared for this last obstacle.

10. After the installation is finished, you can delete both installation folders (c:\webcam and c:\webcam driver pack)
