"Had to uninstll. system became unstable and would lock up easily. Note this was on a slow 300mhx machine. may work fine on later system."

"All this self-extracting installation did was to put a few empty folders into the root of my c: drive. The O.S was w2000 with SP3.

the small size of this file should have made me suspicious. The size of the correct file on the HP site is over 50MB."

"Well here I go again, forever installing drivers on a windowsXP system. Can't tell you how many hours I have spent doing this, but today (night) it was only 4. I got my HP ScanJet 3300c working again (not easy), I install the sj650en (54 meg.) file then install the sj649mu.exe update and after doing this more than once it is working again. Later!"

"Being an MSCE, I did some poking around in the XP system. I kept having the 2117 error, and no matter what driver I installed, same error kept appearing. I found that XP requires a TWAIN driver for this scanner to work. HP does not/refuses to make a compatible driver/software for 2k/XP. Secondly, the issue seems to be mostly a fault in the LT software (undefined error 2117

"WIN XP and this software (3300C) will NOT work together, as this software is NOT compatible with XP(information found at microsoft page) You are not able to install the driver. Various faults, mostly system hangs. Only works fine with Win98"

"You can download this driver directly from HP website as I did. Just look for XP upgrade it contains the entire program. It works great. Lee"

"Scanjet 3300c will not work with XP. You can worry yourself to death screwing with it and get to make a couple of scans, but it will NOT keep working for long. I gave mine away and bought sj 3500c. It works fine."

"After 16 different Help topics in HP, 6 email support msgs, 8 uninstall/reinstalls, no solutions. I have not used this older driver, just the download listed by Tony, from HP, with the update. "This driver will make my HP ScanJet 3300C work ok, as long as I don't turn off the computer. Turning off my computer,(with the XP OS), the driver will un-install. So I re-install each time in need."
