"I was having trouble with the Ambient Modem under Win XP with the CPU going to 100% and staying there occasionally when I tried to connect. Thought I'd give this one a go but it would only connect at 26.4 or 28.8. At least my old driver connected at 44.0. Looks like I'll have to go broadband!!"

"Thank you. I was sceptical at first as I didn't see anything in 'Comments' re XP Pro. However it is working great or at least equally as good as my old Win Me driver. Downloaded in a jiffy, extracted to floppy and led XP Pro to the A \. Hey Presto - Connected. Bill."

"XP Pro. didn't recognize this driver. Gave me the message "The specified location does not contin information about your hardware" I got this for free so thinking I'll have to pony up and buy something more current. Anyone know of a way to install without using the "Wizard"?"

"At last - the modem sticker said it was a VPI56SPA but these drivers failed to install. The WinXP new hardware said the modem was Intel 56K HAM Data Fax Voice Modem, so I gave this a go. Thanks )"

"Shame on Intel for hiding the driver. It is no longer at the URL reported by the wise Sage. Intel wants you to lose their old modems and by new stuff. To install on Device Manager in XP, go to Simple PCI Controller and update driver. Tell XP to search on the unzipped directory. It finds the driver and installs it right away. It works!"

"This is the second time I have picked up these files proporting to be a driver for the Ambient HaM. Although it has an exe suffix is is a zip file and when unzipped there is no setup.exe. Windows cannot find a file to run through it's hardwear wizard. Perhaps i am missing something!"

"I mistakenly tried it on Win98 (2nd Edn) - boy do I regret that - It behaved just like a virus - multiple windows opening everywhere and even formatted the usb 128 meg Twin Moss Disk that I saved it on - along with many other hard to come by drivers. PC-Cillin did not pick it up if it was or is?"

"well here's what i found out, the driver works for my modem (ambient model 2019-03), which with windows xp is a hard to find driver. however he only way i got it to work was by using WinZip (version 8.0) well best of luck to you"

"When I try to install the modem, click "Have Disk" etc., no modems are listed and the "next" button is disabled. The modem works fine on ME, I think I might go and buy someething that's not a Winmodem, because they SUCK !"

"i downloaded the file but i dont know how to put it on my system there is no wizard,i have taken the old driver off and tried to install the new but it doesnt seem to work,there is a notepad with it but makes no sense to me"
