"After having troubles installing EZ CD Creator 4 on my XP OS (this old software wasn't meant for XP), I had the cursed "CD Recording Software causing problems..." error message, causing my Plexwriter 8/4/32 drive to hang at startup. I deleted this driver (CDR4_2K.sys) and cdralw2k.sys in the hope that they were causing the problem. I even deleted them from the Re

"Worked fine on a Creative CDROM X8. Make shure you put the driver in the C \Windows\system32\drivers directory before you reboot."

"My problems started in trying to uninstall Roxio (piece of $!@%_)- long story short, I updated the file through Roxio's website, and afterwards kept kepting error messages on start-up that this driver is being blocked. I found it, deleted it, and then lost accessibility to my CD-ROM drives. I reinstalled it through this site, and now I have the CD-ROMs again, but still kee

"Worked very well for my Creative 52X CD and Windows XP. Just delete the cd drive from XP's hardware list, put cdr4_2k.sys in C \Windows\System32\Drivers, and restart your computer. When the computer restarts, just wait and watch while XP flails around a bit and finds the CD and the driver."

"the version number of the driver on this site is 2.5.0.93 (from Adaptec) and the version number that I have on my PC (W2000 OS, WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS) is 5.2.0.96 ... which appears to have been recently updated by Roxio."
