"I was informed by the Canon Site that I should use this type of driver to update my scanner.

The trould is that every time I try to install it I receive the following message

C:\Windows\SYSTEMS32\AUTOEXE,NT, The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft applications, Chose 'close to terminate the application

Any suggestions on what I can do to

"The over all install was great, however, only after using a couple of times, it shows an error. parallel port may be used by another tool or something like that. I then have to uninstall and come back and reinstall. This has happened on 3 seperate occassions when I have not changed anything on my ports."

"Absolute waste of time, as with all the "drivers" located on this site,the canon site or any other that I've run across. Various names, but they're all the ScanCraft software. It doesn't work. "I cannot get this to work, i have all the things installed but i cant get it to actually come up so i can start scanning. "after upgrading to wondows xp, my canon fb320p would not work. i went to this site and downloaded the proper driver. tried to use scanner still not working, reinstalled the software that came with the scanner again. now works great on windows xp.. thanks again for your help"

"I get the same error message 0x10ff0800 I've tried everything nothing seems to get this scanner to work I have a theory it has something to do with the twain drivers not being able to access the ntfs but going back to a fat32 file system is not an option so I don't know what else to try"

"To overcome 'parallel port used by other device' problem do ctrl/alt/del, go to Processes tab, locate 'spoolsv.exe' and terminate. use scanner. you'll have to repeat process if you use printer between scans. I've been using this sequence. have u had any luck with any other system? Geoff"

"Installing another parallel port for the printer, instead of running it though the scanner, solves the conflict problem. Otherwise you have to use the scanner before the printer after booting."

"I had the same problem with the printer hogging the port. You can unplug the printer from the scanner every time you wanna scan something, or what I did was got a second parallel port installed on the computer so I had one port for the printer and one for the scanner. There shouldn't be any conflicts with it then. It's been workin' fine for over 2 years now."

"The problem lies with the fact that a printer on the same cable as the printer will hog the port due to bi-directional communications to and from the printer. Your options in XP so far are to uninstall the printer when you need to scan or to maybe disable bi-directional printing."

"Used to try to correct error code 0x00070800 problem for CanoScan FB620P. Didn't work. Other drivers didn't work as well. Got scanner to work again, when by chance used Microsoft Office Document Imaging application that came with Office 2003."
