"Initially I downloaded C-Media drivers which a reputable diagnostic program informed me were the ones required. None of these semed to work.

On further investigation (by myself) I discovered that the audio chip was in fact a SoundPro endorsed by C-Media Inc.

I subsequently searched for the Soundpro Driver and hey presto this one from Driverguide works a treat.

"The way I installed this driver on Win Xp is After downloading, unzip to a new folder on desktop. Go to start, control panel, system, hardware, device manager. Go to sound, video and and game drivers. Right click on CMI8330/c3d and click update driver. Go to install from a list, search for best drivers, include the new file in the search. It will install then."
