"This driver is supposed to be for HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE8240B but it does not recognize my CD-ROM. When booting from startup disk it correctly IDs my drive but then changes its mind."

"i guess there are 2 different firmwares for this model but there different cd burners, i have a HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8240B Firmware revision 1.08 anyway this is not the one i needed."

"I couldn't figure out whether my drive was OEM or LG. Decided not to touch it. The drive is working now so I'm not going to mess with the firmware unless it becomes a problem. I recommend you find out **exactly** what you have before you try this."

"I've got Windows 2000 and he can read the cdrom in bios but not in windows. There is an error (31). It says he can't load my driver. And this all happened afther i installed Easycreator. Can u help me? Thnx"

If you're lucky you've tried to use this and it told you that it wasn't the proper driver/drive and to exit, and if you were not lucky you hosed your cdrw drive. "Well, I want to thank you for this info. It solved a 4 day dillemma in doing a rebuild. We couldn't get Easy CD Creator Platinum to recognise the CDRW... and the notes that come with this firmware update.. READ'EM!!! Doesn't work for OEM product."
