"Had to install 3 driver files to get astra 3450 to work in win xp. First: vs375u.exe then: vs375u_382upd.exe then: umax_astra_3400_winxp.zip. After all three installed scanner works great. All three files from driverguide."

"Driver worked OK for a while, subsequent XP updates stopped it working. It seems the astra 3450 just won't work with XP. Scanner still works perfectly on Win 2000."

"I tried to install the driver with the included 'Uploader Notes' but was not successful. Here is how I installed the driver successfully:

1. First install the scanner driver from the CD for Umax Astra 3450 version 3.75.000 rev.1.

2. Copy and paste VS375U.exe and the VS375U_382upd into the C /VSTASCAN directory.

3. Double click and run the VS375U.exe first &

"i wasnt able to finish the download, the system is incredibll slow and I had to shut down before I went home for the day. Now Driverguide says I have used my free downloads and want me to buy it. I'm not happy..."

"Driver works OK for XP though the interface is limited. Sold scannner on eBay and purchased a Vista ready HP scanner. HP Interface and tools are as good as Photoshop Elements."

"Seemed to load ok, but failed to recognise scanner. Instead, new hardware wizard would eventually give blue screen of death with system halt if allowed to run."

"It did not work for me -- following xp-readme.txt, I ran vs375u.exe first, then ran vs375_382upd.exe for my xp patch. VistaAcess told me "UD DLL Not found" when I ran Scanner Test... I tried uninstall, reinstall, repair and modify many times, still no luck... I am missing something but how?"

"The update does not allow operation on my XP machine. XP regognises scanner without this driver and update but does not use all scanners ability. The new version via umax you have to buy as download not available - this works."

"It happened later on that the scanner was out of order.

I recommend this until better alternative but it's not

a driver, it's the workaround process to get this scanner work

with XP. Reserved for advanced users."

"I was hoping for the transparency adapter to work, but alas, no. Altho the scanner works now in XP, it is s-l-o-w and cranky. Maybe I need another scanner?"

"It seems some are still having problems with Windows XP and Umax Astra 3450. I admit it is a poor system on Umax' part and XP. Here is what works for me...I installed it this way on my old computer and my new computer ( twice when my new hard drive failed) Step by step..... First install the scanner CD program (mine is version 3.70) Copy and paste VS375U.EXE and the VS375U

"Used this for my 3400 Astra scanner with XP Home. Works fine, but had to change default Microsoft driver to USB Driver after install. Click on imaging devices in the device manager. Go to properties and change drivers."

"I tried to install the driver with the included instuctions but was unsuccessful. Here is, how I installed the driver successfully :

1. First, install the scanner CD, Version 3.75 rev.1 included for Umax Astra 3450.

2. Copy and paste VS375U.exe and the VS375U_382upd into the C /VSTASCAN directory.

3. Double click and run the VS375U.exe first & run the VSSet

"I'd really like to get this working. Under XP, I first installed version 3.73 from the VistaScan CD. Then I doubleclicked the vs375u.exe file. I think that installed version 3.75, but I don't know how to check that. Then I doubleclicked the vs375u_382.exe file. I think that updated the file to version 3.82, but again I don't know how to verify that. The scanner test is sti
