"This driver DOES work with this PCTEL HSP56 micromodem...but...only on certain mobo's....I tested it on 7 different mobo's...but it only worked on my favorite "older" mobo...the ASUS P3B-F....where the modem and driver installed easily and the modem worked well.

The problem I noticed is DEFINITELY the modem...not the driver.

Could not find it when logged in under my member name. would not find it under brand GVC, fcc id #, board #, or any other search.30 minutes later I found it?! "Installation program returned a 1 I believe the modem was seated ok but Windows couldn't find it so who knows?

"Windows XP home with service pack one recognized and installed this modem all by itself. It dialed up, and connected with XP's driver. I then proceeded to think something was wrong because my firewall stopped me connecting, so I went ahead and installed this driver. It works. "Attempted to use PC Tel modem in older machine with NT4. NT needs a modem with jumper settings not a winmodem as this is. Not the fault of the driver. But don't waste your time trying to make it work."
