is card "d" is a throwaway it can be made to work with these drivers. thank god for driverguide. in win 98, there is a generic system file for isa with vlb slots under update driver in device manager and also ide busmaster drivers w/vlb as opposed to standard esdi/ide that gets put there anyway when loading win. this is under system devices in dev man. worked but maybe safer to keep win default drivers and couldn't see a big advantage after changing anyway.(i didn't speed test) tried several older drives from this 486 66 era computers. only achieved ok running with a 2.1 maxtor i bought for it. and then i replaced the card "d" when a free one showed up that could have the sec chan set on with jumper."
