"User deleted System .ini file. Reinstalled Windows 95 and kept existing files. Rebooted PC and Harddrive,CDROM and CDWriter could not be seen. Downloaded the 1.00.12.DN0R bios upgrade for Packard Bell 680 Motherboards. Followed instructions on Upgrading Bios and rebooted PC. The OS is now seeing all drives. Thanks for saving an ancient PC.It also seems to run quicker since

"This bios works correctly for the board in the "Multimedia 153". Designation on the board is 181685 PB-SMT. In general, a AMI bios that ends in the same 4 letters as the one on the system (DN0R in this case) should be compatible."

"Where can I find PB#? My bios seems to be 1 digit older 1.00.11.DN0R. I have packard bell multimedia m400 with a p133. But cant't find board version, there are two stickers on the board, the closest thing I can find is PB-SMT."

"Question? situation Packard Bell 133Mhz, 20GB HD, want Bios to detect, err msg this ver. Bios does not support..HD of this size.. . HD support floppy install disk formats all drives, but then Packard Bell recovery disk detects as HPFS or FAT16 something close to that. i need a Bios upgrade.. will this detect large HDs?"

"THANK YOU!!! The update worked WELL. My old BIOS started seeing my secondary PCI controller as disabled out of the blue, but the new BIOS fixed me. PB has virtually NO support now. You are a lifesaver."

"I would recommend anyone who still uses a 680 board to update the bios. It seems to be working very well and definitely a smoother start-up."

"Bios upgrade went very well, still having trouble with the size of hard drive - only up to 8 MB , is this max. Otherwise found it to be very easy to do (upgrade) and would recomend any one else with same board to do the upgrade of the BIOS, Ran a few different ulilities programs and have gained a few more months before upgrading to a newer board."
