"I wasn't sure if this was the driver I needed because the onboard chip didn't say anything except Audio Excel on the top. No other ID#. The download went great and the install also went great and there was no problem with it working."

"This xp driver just worked on my 2009 Vista Ultimate install. I am having problems with my onboard Realtek HD Audio driver, which is not detecting the speakers inputed into the Audio out rear jack. It seems to think that SPDIF is connected but it isn't.

So I put this old sound card in with an audio excel cm18738/pci chipset and using this xp driver it works perfectly

"Execute setup, then U have to wait until the card reacts! (a few secs.), restart, configure 2 or 4 way spkrs and enjoy. Not a great card, but the driver worked fine. thanks DriverGuide!"

"The install worked fine for my AV-511 Sound Card running under Windows XP.

Make sure you choose the right options in the setup dialog. If you have a separate soundcard, select the second radio button, not the default motherboard radio button. Check the back of the card to discern if you have MIDI and Game ports for the soundcard to decide whether to select the checkbo

"This driver does not work for the av-511(CMI 8738/PCI)... It never ends the intalling process, than you have to restart your computer and nothing happens."

"I have rated this driver POOR and BAD because it apprently only works with the motherboard version and I have the 6 channel sound card and the driver install freezes about three quarters of thwe way through. Then I had to power down to unlock the computer. Not a good experience at all."

"I have a audio excel soundcard CMI8738/8738sx and have been looking all day for a windowsXP driver. Couldn't find one at Microsofts driver page or at the Audio Excel web site. Thanks Cutty Sark your driver works great!"
