This is the version 128 BIOS and Driver for the HPT366 UDMA/66 controller on the Abit BE6-II. This version fixes the incompatibility of the HPT366 with certain Maxtor and IBM ATA-100 drives. This is the Win2K/WinXP version. You MUST match the BIOS to the driver, which is why I included them both here.

"I initially updated the BIOS to version 125 (the latest official version). With my IBM DTLA 307015 hard drive connected to one of the ordinary IDE channels (as normal), in Device Manager I now had two Mass Storage Controller entries with yellow question and exclamation marks under Other Devices (so it's as if the HPT controllers were 'half-detected' as a result of updating

How to Update BE6-II HPT366 Device Drivers Quickly & Easily

  • In Windows XP, click Start -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> System -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager button

How to Install a driver from Device Manager

  1. Locate the device and model that is having the issue and double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  2. Select the Driver tab.

  3. Click the Update Driver button and follow the instructions.

In most cases, you will need to reboot your computer in order for the driver update to take effect.
