"It works on Windows Me! My original CD had been cracked. Later I had to wipe my harddrive clean, loosing that driver for my OfficeJet 500 in the proccess. I downloaded this one and it is truely the same one that came with my printer years ago."

"This driver is purported to work with all of the Windows versions, 3.1 thru XP... Don't even attempt it if your system is not 3.1 or '95. Go to the HP website if you want RESULTS."

"If you need drivers for NT, 2000, or XP for this product, you need to get the LATEST drivers from the HP website. They're considerably larger than the 9X drivers (at over 20 mb), and you HAVE to set your printer port to ECP status for it to work. It's kind of a hacked up solution. I've got a 500, on an XP box at home, and I'm getting something newer and selling the 500 to

Also, note that these downloads (here and at HP) do NOT come with OCR text recognition software. HP says you're just out of luck on that one, sorry. It was distributed IN THE BOX with new units only."
