"This driver doesn't help to render old vesa apps, though the acer AL2216W widescreen lists VGA and SuperVGA modes among its features; i'm using XP on a laptop, while the laptop screen runs vesa apps without even requiring a vesa driver out of the box; the widescreen as an external monitor doesn't seem to acquire the necessary signals for switching; this driver didn't help
