"I always keep my driver software in the box the hardware came in-- this time I misplaced the box. This Cmedia driver worked for my low-profile CMI8738 PCI multimedia sound card in windows XP Pro. I didn't try the setup program, but the "update driver" method worked fine. I found this driver with a Google! search."

its for another model, besides its old (629) and ment to work

on Add-on PCI cards only. beware create a registry back up before

"I was trying to find a driver for this chip, and having no luck. This driver worked perfectly, 1st time. The sound is as good as you can expect for a low-end sound chip. It is stable, works with all applications, I have no complaints and am pleased I don't have to drop $40 or so to hear my games. Thanks!"

"unless I'm doing somthing wrong, and I'm not...this damm driver will not completely install. Every time it starts, the windows installer comes up and usurps the installation. When i choose the driver from the win install app, it won;t accept the driver. This is the correct driver according to my hardware so what the fuss!"
