"I was for many years downloading driver ,but all good things come to an end, It is to hard to get finally to my download,it is easier to solve "Kings Ouest"

"Have only tested short-term, but install was straightforward and the scanner works. It integrates with Paint Shop Pro 4 and MS Word 2003.

So far I haven't managed to use OCR but hey...

I didn't really expect to be able to keep the elderly scanner with an XP system."

"I was at the end of my rope trying to figure this out. This did the trick, scanner now works with my WinXP PC. I run the scanner through a third-party photo editing software, if that makes a difference to anybody."

"Not tried on WinXP as long as it is the only driver i've found for MS OSes, intended for WIN98 (due to port blocking on WinXP) but i think it might work with a little tweaking on WinXP."

"I couldn't seem to get it to install properly. After instalation, windows wouldn't reconize it. As good as the optic pro 4830p is, I'd like to see someone come up with a driver that is compatible with windows xp."

dload, unzip, run setup select scanner, run "scanner utility" (Action manager is incompatible with XP) then use a 3rd party software to capture.

I used photoshop 6 "file-import-colorflatbedscanner32" and bobs your uncle!!"

"I must admit that I was rather sceptical at first, but the driver works just fine...so far (If I have any problems, I'll be sure to let you know). I'm using Windows XP Professional on an HP xt963 and I use Microsoft "Picture It! Publishing" to scan. Just follow Andrew (69.137.181.x)'s advice."

"As I signed all was bad, but telling true I could only turn off and turn on the lamp but nothing else, sorry for all who spending hours as I did today tried to instal this driver because there is lack of some files that let your plustek optic pro 4830 work under windows xp.

"This driver works fine on Windows 2000 SP4.

Unzip, run Setup, reboot.

Make sure scanner is turned on and connected.

Run scanner utility program.

Press Auto Search, and you should get a 'scanner connected' message.

The scanner now shows up as a twain device.

That's it."

"Installs OK but gives error "Scanner DLL not found" when trying to activate the utility. Previously used this driver with XP on old PC and had great success. Recently upgraded to new DELL PC and can no longer run this driver. Searched groups and found directions to run win.ini and append the following text over two lines:

[TWAIN]

Default Source=C:\WINDOWS\t

"Sorry to say the driver doesn't work on my PC. I have a A7V8X-X motherboard by Asus with Duron 1600 MHz. My OS is XP Home with SP1 (Polish version). I followed all the advices above:

1) scanner is SWITCHED ON, before you power up your PC (by Anthony Conroy)

2) I added to win.ini the Default Source=C:\WINDOWS\twain_32\OpticPro\TWAIN_32.DS (by Madness; BTW IMHO it shou

"Many thanks to Russ. This driver works great with my XP Home. Also, I agree with Anthony in Melbourne the scanner is not recognised if it is switched off when pc is powered up, but all is well if the scanner is powered up first. Hence, I leave my scanner normally unpowered if I need it, I power the scanner and then do a Windows restart. Absolutely no TWAIN problems in

"The driver works on XP. It even overcomes a scanning fault that the previous driver exhibited when set at 300dpi. It is like having a new scanner. Just unzipped the file, ran the setup program then restarted the computer. After restarting, the scanner utility worked, confirming that the driver was functioning correctly."

"Russ has the best option for XP users. The small 'Scanner Utility' will automatically detect and match the correct settings for the port, i also downloaded 'Simple Copier' and EasyScan' after going through the motions with both i decided that 'Simple Copier' works very well, and with other twain devices too! Easy Scan looks like a nice program but it did'nt work very well

"For those getting the "Scanner DLL Not Found" message, here's something to try 1) Go to Start | Run, type in WIN.INI, OK 2) The opens in Notepad. "Try going to 213.209.100.104/driver/600P-_4831P-_6000P/4831p-e.exe When I unzipped this file I got TWO disks, of which the file located here is only the first. Haven't tested it yet, though."

"Could this be only one disk of a multi-disk zip file? It contains many files which claim to be zip files (including those ominous dll's), but with the extension .z instead of .zip. When you change them to .zip extensions, winzip says they are incomplete."

"I tried this version of the driver on two machines one w/ XP Pro the other w/ Home. Worked fine on the former but gave "DLL Not Found" on the latter. It's a hit or miss which makes me wonder just HOW much trouble it would put Plustek through to make a working driver. This one's originally for WinNT4, BTW."

"Driver worked fine. Installed driver, rebooted computer, verified port setting using the Scanner Uility, Used Microsoft Photo Editor Ver.3.0.2.3 for scan (comes with MS Office XP not installed by default, also on MSOffice97 & 2000). All worked OK."

"I can now see why so many people are having problems with this driver. I can say that this zip file will let you see your Plustek scanner in WINXP if you follow these instructions :

First, you have to completely uninstall the Plustek software from WINXP.

Then, install the program from this zip file.

Restart WINXP.

You will also need a new scanner software (

"This is the 2nd post, please read the first post by me, before reading this one. Ok I was about to put my scanner on ebay, but I can salvage it. When you download and install this driver it fixes the ocr, utility and Photo Magic application. Use the Photo Magic application to scan pictures. Just go to File, then Acquire. It didn't take me that long to figure this I hope
