"the directions Sirius gave did not work for me. windows immediately picked up the drive, after uninstallation, and reinstalled standard cd-rom drivers automatically. when attempting to update the driver, windows says it cannot find a better driver than what is installed. any suggestions please feel free to email me."

"Problem still exists

Compaq SD-612B does not read DVD, DVD-ROM, or CD-ROM. Just audio CD's =( maybe i am just doing it wrong, but when i went to install the DVD drives it never recognized these as appropriate drivers."

"It's great, thanks guys I have been looking for 1 week that driver and at last it actually work, for those who dont know how to use it, just download the file and copy it to your C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers folder and "voila" just add the DVD using the "Add hardware""

"Well for all those ppl that said they would recomend them did u guys install it and it worked or what cuz i have no idea on what to do with it theres no inf file or anything. Why is it still on here. If anyone found another update for this driver for XP please tell."

does't work. I think, the driver are the same as the old ones.

Both driver have the same number of bytes as the old ones."

I remember .sys back in dos days loaded in either config.sys or autoexec.bat, but this is winXP and asks for a .inf file. somehow going to see if I can make an inf that will install this, I see in the properties it's loaded cdrom.sys in the "drivers&quo

"There are no Instructions on how to use this file. I tried to use it by copying it to the sytem32 folder and rebooting but it only made the DVD drive disappear from my hardware list. Removed the file from system32 folder, rebooted again and saw the dvd drive again. Still having the same problem though, Win XP sees this drive as a CDROM and not as a DVD ROM."

"Janus and Others, This driver was part of a pair. It came with Easy CD Creator by Roxio on Windows OS Millenium. It is unstable in Windows XP. The fix is find a generic driver that will work with your cdrom. This is not an answer for XP users."

"Complete waste of time if you are using XP, won't work, no way to open .sys files. Why is this driver even posted when not one person could get it to work, and noones come up with a fix?
