"The drive came with a Compaq computer; was never able to burn to any disks I've had, so I attempted to flash it using the driver from the Compaq (HP) site. Seemed to go okay, only to find that the computer no longer recognized the drive. Tried flashing with this program (which someone had said revived them from a failed flash attempt) and now the drive is effectively dead.

It took an inordinately long time to flash; then the computer wouldn't reboot, wouldn't go into bios setup, just locked up at the first info screen. The only way to boot up is to unplug the drive."
