Isn't it humongously annoying that Microsoft doesn't make their drivers available for download? What do they have to gain? After all, this software is useless without the hardware...
Well, anyway. After a lot of futile web searches I found the original CD on my shelf, and decided to spare
others a lot of trouble and help Microsoft support its' own products.
Here it is, right off the CD
Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick software version 4.0. My FF2 works just fine in W2k pro with this software and the VIA USB patch. Just follow the instructions in the MS Knowledge Base article and it'll work.
