"I installed the driver as it is explaned in the readme file. I downloaded all the files as it is written. I restarted and a window opens with different type of selections. The only selection you can use is scanning and printing what was scanned, but it is impossible to save the image in a file. The on/off lamp functions right.

"The only thing that works (reasonably well) with this scanner and XP is the generic that is inside of XP. The best resolution is get a new scanner (they are cheap) or a combination printer - as little as $99 for a decent one."

Windows XP supports Astra 610p with an own WIA driver. To install the WIA driver open the Windows XP controll panel "Scanners and Cameras". Select the command "Add" and as Manufacturer select "Umax Data Systems"."

"This driver is also fantastic for the Astra 600P and Windows XP. It offers a choice of language of English or German. It works flawlessly and is quite a nice upgrade from the old vistascan's appearance. It's a big download, but worth every drop. I recommend it very highly."
