have DELETED 3.06 and all earlier versions from their web site. Their motivation seems to be that they find joy in causing customers grief.

Yet with Windows 2000 and XP you don't need INPW, anyhow, because Win2K/XP includes built-in support for TCP/IP attached printers (if you know the trick for "add printer," which is to choose local rather than network). So INPW versions 4 & later are basically useless.

That means it is almost incomprehensible that the jerks at HP deleted all the useful versions of INPW from their web site. They decided to burn all users of old computers, for no good reason. They apparently deleted all versions of INPW prior to version 6 from the hp.com web site.

So I went looking for earlier versions. I didn't find INPW 3.06 anywhere, but I found INPW version 3.01 on a university web site. However, it wouldn't work.

However, this one, which is only version 2.01, works perfectly. My old Win98SE box is now working fine with my LaserJet attached to my JetDirect print server.
