Nikkai DSC 2770 Driver Reviews

The initial and second restarts of the machine both had no TCP/IP network connectivity, which I attempted to correct by disabling the local area network connection, entering the properties for that connection and reestablishing the TCP/IP protocol which had been greyed out there, and then reenabling that connection. The third restart worked and I got network connectivity back.

The "setup.exe" file is labeled MyDSC_610. When executed it installed a new program group on the start menu: "My DSC" contains three icons - "My DSC" "PCCam" & "Uninstall.

MyDSC [1.8.2.13] [F26-SPC-T3.5.13.1-C1.8.2.13-U] opens a camera interface; that interface discovers a simple Chinese made "pen camera" about the size and shape of two pens taped together with duct tape. The driver also permits both ACDSee 5.0 and ArcSoft PhotoMVP to access photos on the camera.

The %root%:\WINDOWS\twain_32\MyDSC\PCCam.exe program interface, Options > Preview checked, permits use of this simple camera as a webcam. It also supports video capture.

If it were not for the dramatic and unfortunate behavior of the system during install of the driver I would recommend it. But the combination of attempts to establish new startup loads, the BLUE SCREEN which terminated the install, and the need to repair and restore network connectivity after that system shutdown is a bit offputting.

Possible alternative drivers may be

Dual-Mode_DSC_2770__3_in_1_webcam_USB_DIGITAL_STILL_CAMERA_Precision_mydsc_0425_Setup.exe

or the DSC 2770 drivers included with other simple cameras - like the MyDSC_0514 version that came with a Sakar International camera I have used.

I do not know what the "pseudo version" numbers appended to the MyDSC name might be, other than codes for the camera OEM for whom each particular version of "Dual Mode DSC (2770)" drivers were packaged. I doubt that they refer to updated software versions.
