"The download and installation is OK. But still does not solve my prob. The ethernet card that I have is RL2000-PCI REV A1, Made in Singapore, Mfd. Date 1997. Any Idea what could be the problem?"

"I transferred this to the c:\temp directory on the target computer and ran the self-extracting executable. All the drivers Windows needed ended up in the root of the temp directory. (You can ignore all the subdirectories that get created, which confused me. But then, I'm easily confused.) I "reinstalled" the drivers, pointed Windows to the temp directory, and
