"There was a VGA card, not a monitor problem. Some VGA cards with some (or all) driver versions does not recognizes monitors as Plug & Play devices. Because of this it is impossible in Win9x to set a proper monitor refresh rate. I tried to push an exact monitor type to force to work the VGA card in proper refresh rate with my monitor. Sometimes it works..."

"I used the 1700PS on Windows 95 and on XP. It worked perfectly for each one. XP complains that the driver is not signed (and it cannot be signed because it was created way before XP was created) but ignore XP's complaints and just use it. It allowed Age of Empires to display the high resolution screen (1280 x 1024) properly. (Without the driver, that resolution failed

"works great! ATTENTION unzip file. goto Control Panel>Display Properties> Advanced> Change Monitor> no, search for your own> double click the *.inf file and win will install....that's what these info files are"
