"Note: This modem driver worked for a 56PSV-A-W modem with a SmartLink SL1800 chipset in an HP XT983. HP driver is SP23919.exe. Could never HP driver to download from HP. Found this driver. Works great."

"This was on a Windows XP Pro system. Had to use this on an eMachines original SmartLink modem. Went into the Control Panel - Device section where the yellow "!" tagged the unknown device listing and updated the driver. Painless!"

"Worked Great - All Drivers From DriverGuide.com have worked well. You Just need to make sure you have the "right" driver for your needs and to read ALL the comments before trying them! DriverGuide has "never" failed me!"

"Modem chipset: Smartlink SL1800

The driver setup recognized the device and installed without a problem, however when I tried to use the modem the COM port was already in use. Rebooting did not help. I removed the device and rebooted, but windows was no longer able to find the appropriate driver. YMMV."

"Smartlink1800 was shipped with Emachines desktops. This driver hung up for me. Suggest you go to emachines.com then click Customer Care, then Product Support and Downloads, then select desktop, T-series, T1740, Downloads, Modem driver file, SMLink3.00.04F_zip. Unzip it, run setup, and bingo!"
