As usual, Compaq's support sucks and there is no info about the hardware inside a Presario 1611 laptop available at their website. A Google search gave me a link to an obscure Compaq software update site where I found the EXE file to extract what I need from. COMPAQ SUCKS PERIOD!!!
This driver setup works in Win 95/98/98SE just fine. Unzip the file to a folder on hard drive and run the setup.exe. Check under Modems in the control panel of Windows and the modem should show up there as a Compaq Presario 56K-VSC modem. Query the modem to make sure it is operating properly within Windows. The rest should take care of it self.
