"have the umax 1220 p had to buy the cd rom patch which took days to come even tho I spent $ for fast delivery, still did not work now they say I need a driver huh! this is totally pathetic"

"STOP!!! This IS NOT a driver!!! It is a bunch of files!!! No driver! Just go to Umax.com and download the 610 drivers for Windows XP. That is what works!!!"

"I don't know about this driver file, but my scanner worked fine, just as others said, with normal installation. Before you try anything else, I would suggest just installing the thing and seeing if it works."

"It works!!! You're absolutely correct John. The process is right. I'm up and running... no problems. I was a little skeptical before when I viewed the other comments...but I followed your directions and everything is perfect now. It saved me many $$$$. "I did not download the driver here after the bad reviews. Intead I installed my original driver version 1.03. Then upgraded to Vista scan 3.5.1 which I had on disk previous. I still needed to install the Umax 610 (as previously stated) to make my system happy and not give me the new hardware message everytime I rebooted. But my scanner now uses the vista scan 3.5.1 twa

"My UMAX Astra 1220P worked fine on XP. I just installed it from the CD, and then rebooted. When it rebooted, a hardware wizard came up, but it couldn't find driver for the thing so I ignored it. But the scanner works perfectly."

"Thanks for the warning. I might try what Dcurtis did. For now, I am using two computers my old one is hooked up just to run my 1220p. Heck if I'm gonna buy a new scanner just because my new XP OS won't mate with it."

"I used the 610p driver that XP offers and it worked fine for me. I did not try this INFACHE.1 thing whatever it is. The XP I loaded fresh with no 98 under it. Thanks D Curtis for the tip! much appreciated."

"this crappy INFCACHE.1 file doesn't work, but I did get the Astra 1220p scanner to work with XP. I just left the old vistascan driver installed, then installed the only UMAX driver I saw in XP (the 610). Now my scanner works!"
