"The only problem I had was that AWDFLASH765.EXE got truncated to the dos short name (I used a win98se boot disk) but that is easy enough to overcome either on the command line or by editing the batch file."

"Yes it worked…Thank You Very Much! I booted using my Windows 98 Startup disk. Then I put the bios upgrade disk in. To start the AWDFLASH765.EXE at the A \> prompt type AWDFLA~1 like RayP said the file name AWDFLASH765 is too long for DOS. At “File Name To Program ” type 51141107.BIN. By all means save your old bios when the program offers i.e. OLDBIOS.BIN"

"Hmmm... I must have had a loose cable even though the drive was working? I took the cable off the drive and put it back on - everything is EXACTLY as it was before - but now the message is gone! I read somewhere else that someone blamed the cable. Go figure... Unfortunately, though the BIOS is working correctly now, I still can't get my drive to run at ATA/66. I have a WD

"Had no 80 conductor cable connected error with old bios. I updated bios and it fixed the problem. Computer boots and runs at its top speed, ATA66. Flashing the bios requires booting to a bootable floppy with the download files placed on it. The bat file included does not function properly, due to long dos names, so alter it or do the instructions manually."

"I just tried this and had no luck! The BIOS correctly identifies itself as 11/07/2001, but still reports "No 80 Conductor Cable Connected" at startup. I am using the ATA/66 cable supplied with the motherboard on the primary IDE channel with the blue end to the board and black end to the drive. My drive is a WD102AA which supports ATA/66 and I have checked to make sure i
