"This driver works well with WindowsXP SP2. By using the supplied driver for AcerModem 56 Surf modem on the CD, I couldn't make it work. The problem was with the Modem Audio Device. Windows did not find any driver the modem wave audio device on this modem."

"This is definitely a quirky weird driver. It worked perfectly and without any issues for me in Win2000 however it was a bugger to get working in WinXP (on the same computer).

I tried many times to make it work, disabling "wait for dial tone" did nothing. I tried all combinations of turing off the computer, turning off the modem, restarting with modem on, rest

"Worked fine for me. Installed straight away and have had no problems since. As has been said beofre, the modem must be ON for the driver to work. Last time I'm getting an Acer modem though - their support was pathetic."

"Yes this driver works ok for me in WinXP-pro The only quirk is that you MUST have the modem powered up while Windows loads, otherwise it wont even dial. Apart from that I can turn the modem on and off once Windows has loaded and it still works every time. It's not so bad. Listen to the advise of Peter-M below."

"Well it didn't work second time. Have pretty much same config on home computer and tried exactly same steps. No go! XP kept saying modem not present. Tis f@#cked. jIMMY the psycho loner should realise different hardware in computers may make for different problems and not to be so f@#cking hard on others. Obviously he's covering for his own inadequecies! Good Luck to

"I had tried this ages ago along with every other bloody driver. xp wouldn't detect my modem etc. read comments about disabling dial tone etc then rebooting etc tried it and my modem was greyed out (not present). then i copied files (not sure if this is truly necessary) into windows/system32 dir and installed modem from there. this time when i rebooted i had my modem switc

"The driver only works if 1. you turn on the modem before the computer 2. if it gets through to the server first time. to get around these, if you get the message 'no modem' or such, go to properties, right click and go to install hardware. it will find the modem and tell you it's ok. go back and log on. if you dont get through the first time, turn off the modem and turn

"Worked fine for me. I recently upgraded my home HDD to a 120Gb Seagate and decided to give XP/Home a try while I was at it (I was previously running Win98SE). My Acer II modem was the only thing that wouldn't work after the dust settled, no matter how hard I tweaked. "It worked!. Hello everyone. I installed it to use a Modem model AME-MU00 First make sure that you have the modem connected. Unzip the file. then add a new modem from the -Modem tab- in -Phone and Modem Options- in -Control Panel-. when asked to search for the driver browse to the folder where you unziped the zip file. then keep going with installation. "U guys are on drugs - the driver works although u have to disable (detect dialtone) and once installed switch off power to modem then back on - I am using this modem now on Win XP and connected at 45.3kps"

"This driver worked fine.Reboot XP with modem installed and on. Extract driver files to a directory or floppy in advance, and point the new hardware installer to EXTRACTED files, and VOILA, it works"

"Only use this file for XP if your AME-MU00 AcerModem Surf 56 has it's firmware upgraded to v1.8 else you'll be as frustrated as I was.
