"Something has to be wrong in my XP. The Scanner used to work but I have added a zillion programs and now it doesn't work. Now Hunt And Peck Search.

The download worked great and the zip file was just what I needed."

"Installed the HP scanjet 5300c driver for windows XP, and the computer still cannot find the scanner. I have a USB connection and when troubleshooting, saw that the device manager place a ! on the scanner. Used the software installation troubleshooting guide and still nothing. Called HP and was placed on hold for 23 minutes before i hung up. Overall this is junk. I spent $

300.00 when they first came out, and then upgraded to a new computer and wham, nothing works right. I say go bacy to WINDOWS 3.1 and get everything to work right the first time."

"De driver is good. BUT whem my scanner is in de standby(sleeping) mode

XP Home tells my "There is no scanner".

If I switch off the power off de scanner and again onn, then is the scanner out of his standby mode and everthing works well.

The scanner is USB connected."

"The driver works after following your directions, I did not have to edit the registry by the way as the VIDs were not there, but I am still having a problem, after a single scan, if you exit the hpscan software, it will hang up after you try and execute it again.....I think it is the fact this scanner software is buggy with XP...."

t HP precision to run in Windows 2000 compatibility mode. Scanner should start working but windows may say in controlpanel that scanner is not available. If windows doesn't detect scanner then you have to delete following keys from registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\LPTENUM\VID_... and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_... and restart computer."
