"I purchased a SnapScan 1212P scanner at Costco for $40 roughly three years ago. Once I upgraded to Windows XP, I couldn't get this product to work. After looking and disecting the driver above, this appears to be designed more for Windows 2000 Network operating system versus XP. I highly suggest you do not download this driver and install if you are using the XP opera

"I checked that the scanner worked with the original driver on an earlier version of windows.

I downloaded this XP driver for the scanner and tried it on XP with servicepack 1 and tried it later on XP with servicepack 2. The scanner XP driver would not detect the scanner. It didn't work for me."

"This is the one to operate Agfa SnapScan 1212p WITHOUT front switch on XP.

Connect Scanner,instal programme (you may need the installer programme)when finished, reboot. THEN go to update drivers and instal again, reboot and all should be OK."

"Once installed, Scanwise kept asking me to connect/switch on the scanner. I did this, but it didn't make any difference. It seems XP can't find the scanner. Not being a techie, I'm reluctant to pursue it any further. It's a shame, because the Agfa 1212p has done me well and I'll be sad to see it go. Thank God for System Restore!"

"I use Windows XP. After executing the driver and activating the scanning icon it asks for switching on or off the scanner. After doing so it continues to ask the same question. Can anybody help me?. Are additional patches needed? By the way, my scanner and printer are on the same (parallel) port. From the scanner a connection is made tot the printer."

Try this link and follow the instructions. www.armin-eberle.de/Snapscan_1212p/Snapscan_1212p__E_/Snapscan_1212p_WXP__E_/snapscan_1212p_wxp__e_.html It appears the software loads "LPT1" instead of "\\.\eppwdm0" at some point and this page leads you through the set up. Only works if logged on as administrator though - but otherwise great!!"

"Hasn't worked so far! Always get the message 'Please connect or turn on scanner', followed a box where the scanner should be listed but isn't. When you press the 'cancel' button to get out of this screen everything disappears. Anyone got a solution?"

"Este é um aviso para os que chegaram ate aqui. O driver nao funciona, pelo menos no meu năo ( o que tem um botăo na frente). Espero que a AGFA lance logo os drivers, qualquer empresa seria o faria. Julio"

"Tried Quicksilvers epp in BIOS but got the other blue screen of Windows closing to save the hardware! Had to change the BIOS back. XP still doesn't see the scanner. Has anyone checked out MS's interest in Agfa??"

"Xp should be ditched along with agfa. am downloading now but it looks like the other driver i tried anyway and all very well saying uninstall xp but the bloody thing wont uninstall and it wont let me reformat either. anybody know how to reformat to dos with win Xp. "The driver doesn't work. I will never buy an AGFA product again, since their customer fidelity is equivalent to zero. I wrote to them and they sent me a form response which said in so many words that they just weren't interested in wasting time supporting the 1212P scanner. So much for that!"

"It doesnt work. This is the same driver thatagfa had to offer on their website. They say that should work with XP but it doesnt recognize the scanner. I think AGFA should be boycotted till they can support the products they put out with reasonable support to future OS's"

"It's well know that Agfa Snapscan 1212p (parallel port) doesn't have a driver to work in Win XP OS. If you don't want to change your scanner, do a dual boot configuration and install ME or Win 98 and use your scanner with the proper drivers (that works well) in the other OS."

"For all of you who say that there scanner isn't recognised, its not an XP problem. It did the same on my other computer which has Windows 98. The secret is, never sitch off your scanner, even when the computer isn't on. It should still recognise it. If not, then sorry, can't help you!!"

"I have managed to get this driver to work (this is about the third I've tried). It said that it could not detect my scanner when I intially tried it but after rebooting my PC it worked! I'm running it using Windows 2000, scrap XP its the Devils tool."
