"It's been great for a couple of weeks so far. A friend gave this printer to me when he moved and I needed the fax machine feature. The scanner and copier work great. I haven't tried the photo card feature though."

"ok-I downloaded the file and it still can't find the driver-the wizard says anyway---HELP please! I have windowsxp-is it not compatible with that or what cause it worked fine on 98 version"

"shut system down, unplugged scanner and usb connection. Turned system back on. Removed a scanjet software, including hpsc, and jpsj. Copied original CD (English) to desktop. Restarted in safemode. Enabled starup menu. Restarted in safemode again. Installed scanjet software (*error 113 - hpgtrsti.inf file!!!). Shut system down. Connected scanjet. "unknown device" was d

etected. Scanner does not show up under "scanner/cameras", nor under device manager (imaging), but "unknown device" shows up a bottom with red X on it. Highlighted "unknown device" and "enabled". Then ended up with yellow exclamation point next to "unknown device". CAN ANYONE HELP - BEEN AT THIS FOR ALMOST A WEEK. I've alread downloaded the software from HP, but come up with the same results!!! HELP!!! -)"

"I am very relieved to say that my scanner now works with Windows 2000. I was a little upset when HP said it wouldn't, I only bought it a couple of months ago and have been forced to upgrade to W2K and assumed everything would work! (Silly me!) n even though it was listed in Device Manager as working. As per some instructions I found on Microsofts site I then ran \English\Setup.exe from the HP Software CD that came with the scanner (the one it asks for in Olivier's instructions) and it's now working perfectly. Thanks very very much to Olivier and especially to Jerry, I'm a very relieved man!"

"Will try to use this on Win98SE, which also seems to have installation problems... I own a 2100C bought in The Netherlands @ "Scheer en Foppen"... Downloading at the moment too, will let u know the outcome..."

"Jerry, I have to admit I doubted...but it worked. Here is how. First of all, you will need the original CD that came with your scanner. Step 1. Since the setup that is in the archive does not work, you will need to go to the device manager (right click on 'my computer' and select 'properties', then 'hardware', then 'device manager') 2. "It has kind of installed. The setup.exe did not work but I could have the OS recognize the scanner. I was not able to complete the installation as it was asking for the HP installation CD. I will retry again tomorrow! Half-a-thanks...until I solve this issue! -)"
