"For those having problems getting the fix tool to work with this package here is what to do

With either winrar or winzip 8.0 or higher, right click on the 12usbw2k.exe file and have it extract into the directory you are using...

then when you open the fix tool select web.exe and it will install flawlessly"

"Extracted the 2 files, ran 1200usb-w2k-xp.exe. Then ran fixwinxp.exe - got the 'only runs on XP' error message. The regedit fix doesn't work either - ProductName is already set to Windows 2000. Can't see any other workarounds in the comments file. Any ideas??

"it never did install, says its for win 2000 nbot for xp so I never got a chance to use it, I did not have a driver in befor I put this one in.. Up graded from win me with a clean install.. There is another one I wanted to use but you first have to have a driver in to upgrade it to xp, but it wont load the win 2000 so cant use it either. I reall thought this one would be go

"This driver works fine on XP systems if you follow the Registry Hack instructions elsewhere on Driverguide (posed by Vic) Its very easy, anyone

"Once downloaded and installed, Hardware Wizard told me Driver now loaded, device ready for use, but when loading scanner program, i.e., 'Ulead Photo Express 3.0 it told me no device driver available! (Another comment when trying to load was that there was no 'TWAIN' driver."

"For you folks who can't make the fixwinxp tool work, here's all I can tell you. In order to install the Windows 2000 driver, you must make the registry change FIRST (fool xp to thinking it is Windows 2000). If you cannot make it work, then you must manually edit the registry. Instructions for making this change are posted on this Mustek website url www.mustek-europe.c

"I've been trying to figure this out for 2 days. Have done everything suggested, but the latest problem is that when I enter web.exe, a window pops up saying that 'this program only runs on XP'. That's the op system that I've got!!! That's why I'm going through all this nonsense! Now what do I do????"

"Well, I got the driver installed fine, but still having problems with the scanner. Paintshop Pro crashes when trying to scan, but Word scans fine -- after moaning that the scanner is unplugged -- except the image I get is only 256 colours and looks rubbish... Time to buy a new scanner, I think!"

"Grateful thanks to 'Mike' who left no email contact. Your advice did not not get my Mustek 1200 scanner to work on XP but it showed me how to get my Epson Stylus 740 up & running. Far more useful! So thank you Mike! My scanner prob maybe cos an 'upraded driver' would not compensate for NO driver on my PC. XP would not let me install the 95/98 CD and upgraded drivers cou

"The drivers work for me But the fixwinxp.exe only installes mustek drivers. So you must first right mouse click on 12usbw2k.exe and extract it to a folder then run fixwinxp.exe and open the folder you just created. 12usbw2k.exe Will only self extract in windows 2000 so you must manually extract the files to use them in windows xp"

"i had problems at first, but after installing the scanner, then the software, i followed on by entering device manager, reinstalling the drive from known sources, imaging devices, mustek 1200 usb, and hey presto, my scanner is win 2k freindly, cheers m8!!! =0)"

"I tried this driver without success but have now got my scanner working by downloading the XP diver from the Mustek download page. If you select to download it to your desktop you will find four file icons there after downloading. Right click each in turn and if, on the menu that comes up, there is a Compatability button, click it and set to Windows 2000. The Winzip sho

"Had the same problem as everyone else - "you can only choose a mustek driver" Then I tried the regedit thing, that worked, it extracted, restarted, but what next? after restarting the thing tells me new hardware, and it couldn't find it or something weird so I still can't use it, what to do now?"

"fixwinxp will only accept web.exe 1.38Mo I got it from www.mustek.com.tw/Download/driv_scanr/europe/1200usb.html together with the 3 others web.W02 web.W03 and web.W04 you type web.exe in the box - it works !!! andy's right you must update both fixwinxp and webexe to be compatible to windows 2000 - click right mouse select "properties" select "compatibility" activate

"I got it to work using this work around. on the mustek site on the windows xp support page at the bottom is a link to a registry fix to allow the win 2000 driver to be installed.
