"worked fine on the laptop (XP home) wouldn't work at all on mt desktop (XP pro)----had to use 'regedit.exe' to change some hkey, a lot of scewing around, but it worked in the end.

BUT...the desktop, even tho' I followed the exact same procedure would not install the ruddy thing at all,....rubbish!"

"This driver is terrible. With Service pack 2 installed I just get constant errors and it won't even install. My suggestion if you have a Mustek scanner is to download the latest drivers, get yourdelf comfortable, then rip the scanner out and buy an Epson."

"You need to patch, not the file in the directory after download, but the file extracted to c:\mustek

"Couldn't install. There were 2 exe files. The first when it ran said "This is only for W2K". Ran the other which asked me to point it to the first exe file which then said ""You need XP to run this". As I am using XP I found this a bit strange"

"mustek are a rubbish outfit. they dont know how to look after their small customers. I will NEVER recomend Them and their products to anybody. They cant or wont supply a decent driver upgrade. DONT BUY MUSTEK PRODUCTS IF YOU WANT AFTER SALES SERVICE AND SATISFACTION. IT SEEMS THEY JUST WANT YOU TO BUY A NEW SCANNER>"

"Update: I was trying this using my original Win98 driver when I should have been trying the exe. file from the WinNT driver. However, even trying this it now tells me it only works on a Mustek driver, which is exactly what I've got! AARRGGHH !!! I'm off to buy a new scanner that actually works with XP.... "Utterly useless! I ran the installer and it asked me to locate "the .exe" file on my original installation disk. It rejected all of the .exe files that I tried with it. Don't bother with this unless you're a techie-head!!"

"I always get a 'program aborted' error when I try to install. The scanner is in Device Manager but any time I try to scan I just get large black boxes where the image should be."

"I'm on WinXP Professional. When I 1. unzipped file 2. edited registry as described by net-machines.com 3. ran se600cu_2k.exe 4. restarted 5. re-edited registry, undoing change made above .. all works fine. Didn't get fixwinxp to work though."

"This driver does work if you follow the instructions given by net-machines.com. You need a bit of patience and understanding that this driver IS a 2000 driver not XP, but will work none the less."

"Driver works fine on Win2k. The comments about the driver on DriverGuide are misleading. The application 'fixwinxp' should be run only if installing on WinXP. On Win2k run application se600cu_g."

"Click Start, then Run then type Regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion. Change "ProductName"'s value from "Microsoft Windows XP" to "Microsoft Windows 2000". Then run the installer. WHen its finished change the registry entrey back to 'Microsoft Windows XP'"

"what you need to do is run the exe first and it extracts to c /mustek once this is done go back an run the fix exe and when it asks you for the file go to c \mustek and choose the exe file there! ~P"

"I have changed the setting to Win 2000 & downloaded the driver but when I apply it to run with the exe. it says you must choose a Mustek driver, is this not what I have downloaded, why will it not still work?"

"the manual fix is on musteks site, just change the setting in the registry, from "Microsoft Windows XP" to "Microsoft Windows 2000" than install the drivers restart your pc change it back and thats it"

"When I try to run fixwinip.exe it asks for a file name. Not sure what to put in but whatever I select gives an error saying 'only runs under XP."
