"this isn't an easy install. save yourselves a lot of headaches and pull the card, sell it on ebay, then buy a creative labs soundcard to replace it. I fought with my vortex2 (8830) for over a month and I am sick of it. just wasn't ment to be."

"This driver is for linux it will not work under 98 me 2k xp rename the readme file to readme.txt to read the instructions for installing under linux redhat 6 upwards"

"Carlos, you don't have the 'kernel development' files necessary to compile the wrapper. it's looking for a compiler, and chances are you need at least 'gcc' and 'kernel-source' installed. ashridah"
