"It didn't recognize it as the ML-4500 driver. I have used this driver with another Windows XP machine and it had worked though. Not sure why it didn't work this time."

"While the Lexmark driver did not solve the "Found New Hardware" problem for me, the fix suggested by Tim to install Win2K DID WORK!

When the now oh-so-familiar new printer wizard pop-up appeared, I gave the printer a dummy name, pointed it at the Lexmark driver and, so far so good, all sorted... "Here is the XP solution!!!!! Install the Samsung XP drivers, and also extract Win2K drivers to a folder of your choosing. When the printer is found on a reboot in Device Manager, choose the install routine that allows you to go down the "HAVE DISK" option. Point the location of "HAVE DISK" to the Win2k driver folder you extracted the 2K drivers into, and select the *.in

f file in that folder. You will get 'errors' telling you it's not valid etc, but ignore them. The printer will then install, and you will not get the "new hardware found on each reboot" .... please post if this doesn't work for you! I am using XP Pro SP1"

"Works fine to the printer and the screen, but I notice that during Font changes, the Trutype font in the right hand window of Preview is rubbish script. Despite this the text appears ok on the final screen page and on the final print out. Slight glitch in the driver software?"

"It works! Shame on Samsung! They abandoned the ML4500 soon after it sold. Hard to find toner drums, then they don't even have driver support for Windows XP! Thanks for the great work around fix!"
