"Right after downloading this .zip I found my original driver CD for the Strategic Commander, and the file dates and sizes appear to correspond quite well, so this is likely a safe driver package to use, virus-wise.

Having found the CD I didn't actually use this download however, but I thought you might find this information useful."

"Excellent! This is v4.0.3.253 of the Strategic Commander Software and appears complete. It installed easily on Windows XP SP2, just like the one I downloaded a few months ago from MS. I think this is the latest version (or nearly the latest) that was posted on the MS Downloads site before they removed all the latest sidewinder stuff."

"It worked fine. Thank you very much. I was about to give up looking for this driver. One minor glitch which arguable could be a pbck (problem between chair and keyboard). My unzipping software (Cute ZIP) automatically looks for a setup file when it unzips a file. I selected this option and it gave me a message that it wasn't installed properly. I, then, extracted the

"I've been limping along with this conroller for a while in XP. That is to say, using these drivers worked great. Getting the stupid thing to work in Vista is simply too much work, imho. And these drivers will most assuredly never work. Time for a new controller."
