josh leblancs pctel 56k micro modem audio riser for xp pro or home was downloaded went to xp said it was corrupted need to get another one. what helped me was to create c \temp folder to save to, after complete clicked close will open it in xp, and i went to win xp i have dual boot 98 and xp only 98 has internet xp has conflict with sound and modem, i rebooted to xp right clicked my comp right clicked properties clicked hardware clicked device manager right clicked conflicted yellow question mark for communication device right click updated driver choose install list not automatic second one dont search choose ? location click browse and go to where you installed maybe c \temp that you created hope rest is explanatory if not email me.

"Driver didn't complete it's installation. All the files needed were not in the zip file. XP needed pserial file."

  • In Windows XP, click Start -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> System -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager button

How to Install a driver from Device Manager

  1. Locate the device and model that is having the issue and double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  2. Select the Driver tab.

  3. Click the Update Driver button and follow the instructions.

In most cases, you will need to reboot your computer in order for the driver update to take effect.
