UMAX Astra 2100U Driver Reviews

"What a waste of time! I am not all that savy about this stuff, but expected to download a driver so that I could use my scanner....received a bunch of files that don't seem to indicate "install"...or at least in language that an average guy can understand."

I did find a workaround using the suggestion at the bottom of the page from Sheila and it worked fine.

Believe it or not, but it *WILL* definitely work with Win98SE, WinME, WinXP, and most liely also with Windows 2000. BUT - You have to follow the instructions properly. You also have to make sure that after you "force" Windows to recognize the new driver files, your system is powered off - and then on again afte

"Yes it worked for my older software version, Vistascan 3.73. Also note LRM gives more details on the installation at www.abp1.com/astra3400instructions.txt Mainly, you have to force this driver on winXP, as it wants to keep its own self installed driver that gave me "scanner link failure" messages."
