"WORKED FINE, BUT HAD TROUBLE WITH MIDI PLAYBACK,THE DEVICE WILL NOT START FOR SOME REASON. I AM TRYING ANOTHER DRIVER JUST TO MAKE SURE IT IT IS NOT MY SYSTEM."

"Driver install just black-screens and reboots the PC, install fails. It's rubbish. Searching forums, the only fix I've found to get driver to install on XP is to roll back to service Pack 1, not a workable option. Tried C-Medias 'Driver Detective' too, but that sure ain't no Poirot, it couldn't even spot the hardware, never mind find a driver for it."

However I went into windows update and downloaded the same driver

and it installed with no problem's."

"Unzipped the file , then copied that file to my usb flash drive. In device manager i clicked on the yellow question mark and chose reinstall device, and pointed to the file on the USB stick to look for the driver, and it worked perfectly.

It was for the onboard sound chip on a ECS P6BAT-A+ rev 2.0"
