"unzipped, ran the setup program...took a little while but then it said it was done and all seemed ok except the sound card was not recognized yet. i ran the update driver option from the device manager and opted to choose the location manually and pointed to the directory where the files where unzipped. it picked up the drivers and installed the card. all seems ok and a

"I have an old Dell Inspiron 3000, that upgraded very well to WinXPpro except for the "Crystal 4237" drivers. Thanks to all your comments and a drive that works (wonder why M$ didn't this on the XP distro)

Dell Inspiron 3000, 266Telmuk, 80Meg RAM, 40Gig HD.... Works better than I thought it would "not to slow once it gets booted & now sound!<!:o)

"I just installed XP on a IBM TP600E, but with a lot of yellow signs in the devicemanager, and specialy on the sound device. trying this driver didn't make things better. bios is the latest and so is all other drivers. Im not able to run in ACPI mode (doesn't boot at all). if You have some help for me it would be great (before i through XP out)."

"Thinkpad 600 can be real touchy. It was on 98 and was on XP. On 98, there was only one mode driver in creation, and in XP this appears to be the only audio driver in creation. If tou deinstall a yellow marked driver, you can use the one in XP but you have to do it on every boot -- except when it fails in the middle. Thank you very much/"

"Loaded this driver after seeing it on this site, and it doesn't work either. I've manually pruned out the files, re-installed four times in a row. I get the same error "Hardware failed to start". I ghost a Windows 2000 image onto the laptop and it works fine."

"I too, recently loaded XP on my old AMDK6 and all was well until I loaded the modem, then I lost all system sounds. I updated the driver, uninstalled and re-installed the modem many times before I found this Crystal Audio Codec download. "Thank alot for the driver, it really worked well. I really looked for this driver but thanks to you and may you keep it up. It is true this driver is very very rare. You need to unistall the old driver and then after the system restart it will detect the hard ware and it will instal the driver for you. Thanks alot."

"This is the driver for Thinkpad 600 2645 - Ever since upgrading my gfriends laptop to XP the sound was bork'd.. IBM has no clue and no support. I found this link and tihs driver. I will say it wasnt EASY but IT WORKS. Sound is working flawlessly! I had several hurdles and after different attempts heres what worked for me. o load the software and run the installer. o
