"I could not successfully installed it. Getting failed in windows logo test although I chose 'continue anyway'. Device manager getting 'unknown device' use LPT 2000 also.Any one please help."

"In the UMAX web page states that Parallel Port Scanners (as 2000P) does NOT work with Windows XP. This driver is for windows XP. It does not get the PC to contact with the Scanner. Is USELESS"

"XP doesn't accept the driver, so I clicked the "Install" button. Still the device is not recognized, but runs fine when I open the software.

It was good enough to go in a pinch."

"Not working with XP Pro (US Version) with UMAX Astra2000p. Install went fine it just isn't talking to the hardware properly. UMAX wants $14 for a CD-ROM of XP drivers. Poor customer support UMAX. I will remember the name so I dont get stuck with anymore of their products"

"You must first use the Lpt2000.zip to identify your scanner. Then run this program. Only problem is Win XP SP2 causes the program to not work. You must uninstall SP2 for this to work."

"Does not work with XP. After installation of this file, XP continues to detect new hardware as 1220P. UMAX site says they do not support parallel sccanners for XP. I guess we are out of luck."

"It may say for all versions of Windows but the download contains the same software files Umax originally has on the disk that comes with the scanner. The scanner software to needs to be an upgraded version for the XP users . . .."

"I have a more recent W95 driver for the 200P, namely 3.5.2. I downloaded the driver at this site to upgrade to XP. The process was frustrating. I first downloaded this driver last August when I purcahsed my XP desktop. I had much difficulty getting the W95 driver upgraded then as well as now. The result was that I had to basically remove all software and drivers for t

he scanner and printer. My main probem recently was that, unexpectedly, the 200P would scan and my 3820 would print …. but the 3820 would not print anything I scanned. The 2000P scan would stage as shown in the Printer settings but would not print … Waiting To Print. If I clicked Restart printing … nothing happened. The only thing I recall doing before the problem surfaced was I changed my paper size from 8.5x11 to 8.5x14. Tracing my steps from last August I used the driver I downloaded from Drivers Guide last August. I had to remove the W95 version using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS. I deleted the driver specification from Control Panel\System\Hardware\Scanner. I also opened Explorer and looked in the Program Folder for any folders VSSCAN, OCR, etc., (even if empty) and removed them. I also removed all Twain.dll driver files from the Windows folder. Because my scanner would not communicate with my HP3820 Deskjet printer, I removed the software and drivers for it as well … with the thought that I would reinstall it after I got the scanner working. I reinstalled the W95 software and Driver, then rebooted. (The Hardware wizard appeared - prior to me invoking the XP driver and software). I invoked the exe I had downloaded in August (2000P All - vs355p.exe) … first I made sure I deleted all disk1-6 and related folders that resulted from the original invoking in August. I opened the newly generated disk1 folder and executed VSSCAN setup, which installs the upgraded scanner driver. Then I rebooted the workstation. The Hardware wizard did not appear. I tested VistaScan and the Copier functions by directing the output to jpg files. I installed my HP3820 software and driver and then rebooted (several times) and the two periperals began to communicate. I have little confidence that I will be trouble-free for an indefinite period. The downloaded driver is difficult to install (because all prior related folders and files/drivers have to be removed first) and my experience is that it is unstable. It still beats paying UMAX $15 for an XP driver. I guess its the Point... and not the Price! Good luck."

"THIS WORKED.........VERY COOL THANKS... ONE NOTE **** I downloaded the software first then plugged in my scanner and xp found it that way. When you first download the software - UNZIP IT THEN GO INTO "DISC 1" AND CLICK ON THE .EXE FILE...... IT WILL THEN EXPAND THAT FOLDER AND INSTALL FROM THE "SETUP" ICON.............. GOOD LUCK ALL"

They have some nerve charging like $14 just to get a driver that will work with Windows XP, when you already paid for their scanner (I could accept $2-3 to cover shipping, etc., but they are simply gouging). "The driver that Craig posted may not work for U.S. versions of XP. I found a similar driver file at drivers.files.ru, a Russian web site. I do not know if it will work on U.S. systems either."

"Does not work under XP. XP even "sees" the device as a 1200P and not even a 2000P! UMax is finished in my book after trying to blame Microsoft for their not having a driver - what kind of NUTS are there working there, to think MS OWES them R&D for drivers???? Forget UMax from now on...."
